RATES & AVAILABILITY
While certainly not a complete list of all the fun things to do while visiting, the following is a list of some of the most popular easy day-trip destinations available while you are staying at the property.
Sonoran Desert Museum
Hands down, my #1 recommendation of places to go during your visit! Learn about the desert, how alive it is and the delicate balance that makes it work. Then you can come back to the property and see what's around with new eyes!
Pima Air & Space Museum
One of the largest air museums anywhere, five different indoor hangers and acres of planes you will not see anywhere else in the world. You can also visit the world famous Airplane Boneyard from here.
Tucson Botanical Gardens
Well maintained and surprisingly large given Tucson's size, it even includes a butterfly pavilion. All of the plants are native and have interesting, easy to read information cards.
Reid Park Zoo
Really nice zoo with all of the usual cast of characters. It is well maintained and hosts theme events quite often
Karcher Cavern State Park
Discovered in 1974 by two intrepid spelunkers, it is an absolutely amazing cave with over 2 miles of passages, including a half-mile long main cavern.
Bisbee
Visit Bisbee, an Old West town that includes plenty of shopping and museums. Along with Tombstone, it is one of the most common day trips from Tucson.
Mt Lemmon
Where else can you go from a cactus field to a pine forest in less than 30 minutes? Some of the best photo ops in Southern Arizona. Also, visit the Cookie Factory up top and, if you are really a glutton for punishment, it is one of the harder bike climbs around.
Biosphere 2
Visit one of the most unique research centers in the world....very different than anything else in Tucson, especially if you want to placate your inner nerd.
Wine Country
Wine? In the desert? While it is not Tuscany or Napa, the wine region of Southern Arizona has a great many vineyards and makes for a very pleasant day trip from Tucson.
Tombstone
Home of the OK Corral, Boot Hill and lots of Old West flair. There are period actors walking around and recreations of the shootout. The kids will love it!!!
Mission San Xavier del Bac
Built in the 1700s, this recently restored white adobe church is a wonderful example of Spanish colonial architecture, is beautiful inside and out, with colorful frescoes, sculptures and carvings.
